Insulated Rail Joint Systems
Most railways use continuous welded rail (CWR) to form continuous rail sectors that can be several kilometres long. An important component of these sectors is the insulated rail joint (IRJ), which connects two rail sectors together.
IRJs serve to isolate the electric circuit, performing an important role in safe signalling by establishing the position of a train. Glued IRJs are recognised worldwide as offering better performance and extended rail life cycles over dry mechanical joints.
Hird Rail Services manufacture glued insulated rail joints in a purpose built factory and are a major supplier to the UK Rail Industry with increasing sales to Rail Operators around the world.
Available in kit form for factory/workshop fitting, our glued insulated joints offer the highest quality, reliability and durability over on-site kits. Designed to suit most European sleeper spacing configurations, we have the capability to manufacture bespoke joints when required to individual customer specifications.
We can guarantee electrical isolation through the service life of our insulated joints between rail and rail. Indeed, the joints will last as long as the rails.
Our ‘Total Traceability Scheme’ ensures all component parts and processes used during the assembly of the joints are recorded for audit and quality purposes in adherence with the Quality Management Systems demanded by ISO 9001-2008.
